Dakshina Kannadigara Okkuta Silver Jubilee

Tennis Ball Cricket and Throwball Tourneys held

Dakshina Kannadigara Okkuta (DKO), an organisation founded by staff of BEML Ltd., Mysuru, is celebrating its Silver Jubilee Year from January 2020 to January 2021.

On this occasion, the Okkuta has organised a Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament for Men and Throwball Tourney for women.

In all, 12 cricket teams and 8 throwball teams from different Coastal-based organisations had participated in the Tournament.

The Tournament was inaugurated at SJCE Football Ground by Dr. Sadashiva Bhat, Director of Physical Education, Basudeva Somani College, Mysuru and S. Sudhakar Rai, Convener, KSCA Mysuru Zone, as the chief guests.

Billava Sangha, Mysuru and DKO – BEML, Mysuru, emerged Cricket and Throwball Champions respectively.

Prize distribution and valedictory function was held on same day evening.

Three distinguished personalities were felicitated on the occasion. They are V. Shrinivas Rao, well-known cooking contractor and President, Dakshina Kannada Jilla Sangha, Mysuru; B. Kamalaksha Rao, National Volleyball Referee/ Coach from Bagalkot and M.R. Dhanusha, heptathlete who has represented Mysore University in the World University Meet.

Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Principal, Police Training School, Mysuru, T. Prabhakara Shetty, President, Bunts Association, Mysuru, Prashanth Rai, National Kabaddi Player and Vincent Crasta, President, Konkani Christian Credit Co-operative Society, Mysuru, were the chief guests.

Sixteen Presidents of various Coastal-based organisations were present on the occasion.

DKO Secretary Jayachandra proposed a vote of thanks.
