Dalit Trust suggests renaming Mysore Airport after Nalwadi

November 4, 2018

Mysuru: Dalit Welfare Trust has suggested the Government to rename Mysore Airport in Mandakalli after Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar instead of renaming University of Mysore (UoM).

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Friday, Trust President Shantaraj recalled that UoM was established by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and named after the city of Mysore and not after anyone of the Royal family. Hence, he asserted that the Airport  and not the Varsity should be renamed after Wadiyar. Continuing, Shantaraj said that the Trust along with other organisations will organise a grand function either at Kalamandira or Senate Bhavan to mark Tipu Jayanti this month. He further said that former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah would be felicitated on the occasion.
