Dangerous junction box

November 25, 2019

Sir,

The lackadaisical attitude of CESC employees is just shocking.  Most of the streetlight poles  on Devaraja Urs Road have open electrical junction boxes with wires protruding outside the box.  It is extremely dangerous to  walk close to these light poles.

In some junction boxes, the wires are secured with an insulation tape and in some boxes the wires are exposed.

I saw a couple of junction boxes with a cover, which are safe.

The specification for a junction box demands a permanent openable cover.  Probably owing to inferior quality of sheet metal work and thin gauge of sheet,  the covers would have got dislodged and the concerned  staff may not be concerned about the safety of the pedestrians, especially children.

Will CESC authorities take immediate action from giving ‘shock treatment’ to the pedestrians and make the footpath safe for pedestrians ?
