Dangerous tree stump: Officials turn blind eye

July 19, 2019

Sir,

There is a tree stump protruding right on to the road at the junction of JLB Road and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road near Srikanteshwara Iyer Circle. This tree which is precariously positioned is right next to the M-Trac sign board!

The reason for the Mysuru City Corporation to completely neglect this dangerously protruding stump may be to see that somebody coming from the Law Courts side might crash against it and lose his life.

The recent visit of the Vice- President to the city saw the administration galvanising into action, removing the road humps, painting the nearby places and decorating the road with flower pots thus trying to fool the VVIP guests that everything is hunky-dory within the city. However, the same people have turned a blind eye to this dangerous tree stump.

Even though the Vice-President, the Chief Minister or the Governor might not move on this road but on the same road on July 20, the Karnataka High Court Chief Justice will visit the Law Courts and he has to pass through this stretch. What if his eyes fall on this ugly stump? May be the officials of the MCC, Police and District Administration have to pay a heavy price.

I hope better sense prevails and the stump is removed at the earliest before they become the target of the CJ’s ire.
