Mysuru: The Dasara Heritage Treasure Hunt organised by the District Administration and the Department of Tourism with support from DWIJA Conservation Society of Art and Cultural Heritage was flagged off by Tourism Department Deputy Director H.P. Janardhan at the Palace North Gate this morning.
The theme of this treasure hunt is ‘Urban Meets Heritage’. The main focus of the theme is Mysuru’s heritage and how nature is incorporated and expressed in the city’s buildings and culture.
Under four different categories — Automobiles, Hotel groups, students and open (families and tourists) took part in this hunt with a mission to ‘Know Mysuru – Cherish the Heritage’.
Each team comprising of four members, commenced their journey from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple and following the trail of clues, they travel in different directions covering over 40 heritage structures and sites to find the treasure.
The heritage sites that are covered include Race Course, Zoo, Jaganmohan Palace, City Police Commissioner’s Office, Lalitha Mahal Palace, Chamundi Hill, Devaraja Market, Clock Tower, Vasanth Mahal, St. Philomena’s Church, Maharaja College etc., The participants have been given 5 pm deadline to find the treasure.
