Day-3: MMC&RI PG students, Interns and Senior Residents continue protest

November 13, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Post Graduate (PG) students, interns and Senior Residents (SRs) are on the third day of strike today demanding payment of full COVID risk allowance (Rs. 10,000 per month) which was assured to them by the Government.

Even after the end of second wave of the pandemic, COVID Warriors including PGs, interns and SRs are not paid a single rupee from the Government all over Karnataka in spite of the PG students and interns doing COVID duties risking their lives and sacrificing their academics, the protestors, who staged a demo in front of the College this morning, alleged.

‘Apart from that we are not getting stipend since the last two months. SRs have still not got SR scale of payment since last six months,’ they charged.

‘Though the strike entered the third day today, we have not got any positive response from the Government,’ the protesters stated.
