DC entrusted with powers to distribute sites to shelterless: Minister Kagodu

Mysuru: Maintaining that Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have been entrusted with powers to allot 20 acres of land for distribution of sites to the shelterless, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa has directed TP Executive  Officers and GP PDO’s to prepare a list of the shelterless in their respective jurisdiction.

Chairing a review  meeting of district-level officials of the Revenue Department at the Government Guest House here on Thursday, Thimmappa said that the functioning of a section of revenue officials was not satisfactory.

“The Village Accountants and Panchayat Development Officers (PDO’s) should jointly survey each and every village under their jurisdiction and list the houses constructed on government lands. Land records should be issued to even those who have not applied”, he said.

Noting that there was a delay in the implementation of Government Orders at the official-level, the Minister warned of action against those officials who are yet to dispose off applications pertaining to land records that have remained pending for long.

Pointing out that the disposal of applications will take place under the Chairmanship of the MLAs concerned at the Taluk-level, Thimmappa said that Tahsildars should convene meetings of Bagair Hukum Committee every week.

Stating that Feb. 4 is the last date for regularisation of houses constructed on government lands, he said that rural people can apply for regularisation of houses under Column 94C and people in urban areas under Column 94CC of the Land Reforms Act.

The Minister directed the officials to dispose all pending applications by farmers who have been tilling Bagair Hukum lands before Mar. 2018.

He further sad that Bagair Hukum cultivators should be issued records and ensure that their names appear in the RTCs as there are cases in which the names appear in the cultivation certificates but is not mentioned in the RTCs.

Maintaining that works are under progress to form 1,000 new villages in the State to ease administration, Thimmappa said Podi-free campaign in underway.

Continuing, the Minister said that steps are being taken to appoint 1,000 surveyors on contract and they will be trained to serve the purpose of the Government.

Separate Taluk administration machinery would start functioning in all the newly formed taluks of the State from next month, he added. Even as Thimmappa was addressing the officials, Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep who received a phone call from District in charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, gave his cell phone to Thimmappa, when he appealed the Minister to launch Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway up-gradation works at the earliest.

Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhurvanarayan, Nanjangud MLA Kalale Keshavamurthy, Mysuru AC Shivegowda, Tahsildar T. Ramesh Babu and other officials attended the meeting.

Later speaking to press persons, Kagodu Thimmappa referring to recent violence in Uttara Kannada District, said that he will warn State BJP President and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and also his father not to encourage communal violence.
