Mysuru: Although the wireless and walkie-talkie systems which facilitated an instant communication link between the District and Taluk Administrations in times of crisis have gone dysfunctional for over an year, the authorities seem to be least bothered to get the vital communication system back on track.
The wireless and walkie-talkie systems at the Control Room in the DC office as well as in the Taluk office stopped working over a year ago. The wireless communication system provided a vital link in between all those involved in disaster management, rescue operations in times of natural calamities, crisis management and the like. But the non-working of this communication system has hindered exchange of vital information in times of emergency.
The walkie-talkies were provided to all Tahsildars, Deputy Tahsildars and Revenue Assistants (RA) of the district to facilitate instant communication in case of emergencies and crisis. With the key communication system going out of order, the District Administration should wake up to get the system repaired or to make alternative arrangement for speedy and easy communication.
