Decomposed carcass of tiger found in lake

February 8, 2023

Gundlupet: A decomposed carcass of a tiger has been found floating in Malliahnakatte Lake on the outskirts of Chowdahalli in Kundakere Range of Bandipur Forest in the taluk.

It is suspected that the tiger may have drowned about three to four days ago and the exact reason for its death is yet to be known.

A farmer, who had taken his cattle to the lake, found the body of the tiger floating in it and informed the Forest officials, who reached the spot and conducted an inspection.

Meanwhile, villagers took the Forest officials to task for not responding to their complaint. They said that tigers and leopards were attacking their livestock and also wild elephants were destroying the standing crops. Despite lodging complaints, the Forest officials had not responded to them and now, a tiger’s body has been found floating in the lake, they added.
