Dejagow birth centenary celebration: “Kuvempu’s dream of Manasagangothri made real by Dejagow”

Mysuru:  Marking Dejagow birth centenary celebrations, Karnataka Sahitya Academy and Karnataka Janapada Parishat, Mysuru unit together had organised a function at Rani Bahadur auditorium in Manasagangothri here recently.

Inaugurating the programme after offering floral tributes to a portrait of Dejagow (D. Javare Gowda), senior Writer Dr. Kamala Hampana hailed Dejagow as a great educationalist and Writer having worked in various capacities in the field of education. She pointed out that the dream of Manasagangothri of Kuvempu was made real by Dejagow. She added that Dejagow gave a new definition to life.

Speaking as the Chief Guest Parishat President T. Thimmegowda considered Dejagow as the ‘Pitamaha’ of Kannada who showed the importance of folklore through Mysore University and was also instrumental in starting Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies.

Academy President Dr. Aravinda Malagatti defined Dejagow as a tiger with a soft heart going by the latter’s personality and humility.

The event featured a seminar where different Speakers spoke on Dejagow’s works.

The books brought out by Karnataka Sahitya Academy were being offered on discount which received a good response from book readers.

Writer C. Naganna, Academy Registrar N. Cariappa and others were present.
