Demanding jobs, students sell ‘Pakoda’ during University Centenary Convocation

October 20, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Urging Prime Minister to provide jobs for them, some Convocation-gown-wearing students, under the banner of Dalit Vidyarthi Okkoota, sold Pakodas near Crawford Hall yesterday, even as the Centenary Convocation of University of Mysore (UoM) was underway during which Convocation address was delivered by PM Narendra Modi virtually.

Asking the PM to stop talking and start working towards providing jobs for unemployed youths, they maintained that Universities have become mere degree-awarding industries. They urged the Government to impart skill-based and job-oriented education to youths, instead of focussing on just academics.

Accusing the Government of failing to provide jobs, they said that they registered their protest by selling Pakodas.
