Devaraj Urs’ 104th birth anniversary tomorrow

Mysuru: The Backward Classes Welfare Department will celebrate the 104th birth anniversary of late Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road at 11 am tomorrow (Aug.20).

Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath will inaugurate the programme. Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra will preside.

Writer Dr. Malali Vasanthkumar will be the main speaker. Several Legislators and MPs are expected to take part in the event.

Born at Kallahalli in Hunsur Taluk, Mysuru district (20 August 1915 – 6 June 1982),  Devaraj Urs served two terms as the eighth Chief Minister of Karnataka (1972-77, 1978-80). He entered politics in 1952 and was an MLA for 10 years.
