Nikhil to file nomination on Mar.25: Two lakh Cong, JD(S) activists to participate
Mandya: Sending a stern message down the line to Congress and JD(S) workers that the top brass of either party will not tolerate indiscipline or any bid to sabotage prospects of alliance candidate in Mandya Parliamentary seat, Congress and JD(S) top leaders of the district exhibited unity by jointly conducting a media conference at Mandya on Friday.
JD(S) leader and District Minister C.S. Puttaraju and District Congress President C.D. Gangadhar declared a common strategy will be adopted to defeat independent candidate Sumalatha Ambarish.
They said the first big show of strength will be on Mar. 25 in which alliance candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy will file nomination for Lok Sabha polls for Mandya seat. Over two lakh Congress and JD(S) activists from across the constituency will take part during the filing of papers. Both the parties will adopt better strategy than the rival camp to ensure the victory of Nikhil.
They said that joint campaigning will be conducted as per the directions from their party high command leaders. The press conference comes in the wake of disgruntlement over a few Congress leaders expressed their individual opinion over supporting Sumalatha which is threatening to spoil the parties.
Puttaraju said that both the party leaders will meet and pacify all the dissident voices including former Minister L. Cheluvarayaswamy, former MLA Rameshbabu Bandisiddegowda, other former MLAs and MLCs. He also said that he would also lead a delegation to set aside the differences among Congress leaders.
Setting aside the allegations of former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah was behind with Sumalatha’s candidature, Puttaraju termed that such allegations are ‘media creation.’ Siddharamaiah had openly taken his party leaders to task for not following ‘Maithri Dharma’ at a programme held in Hassan recently. The party has no doubts over Siddharamaiah in this regard, he said.
Disciplinary action
District Congress President C.D. Gangadhar said that the party would initiate disciplinary action against Congress leaders involved in anti party activities. “Leaders who wish to work for Sumalatha, can resign from their posts and work. Nikhil has been fielded as a coalition candidate and the party leaders would work in this direction”, he added.
The high command leaders have also given directions to the party leaders not to air their differences in public, as well as respecting and
Congress leader Amaravathi Chandrashekhar, who was one of the close confident of late Ambarish said that he was a loyal partyman and work for the party candidate.
He said that he would have also worked for the victory of Sumalatha if she was fielded by the Congress. He also said that Sumalatha did not meet him.

Answering to a query to reporters, he said that he didn’t know whether his family members were finding a girl or not. But however, “I m ready to tie the nuptial knot with a Mandya girl if I find one,” he added.
