Mysuru:  On the occasion of ‘World Sparrow Day,’ members of Jeev Daya Jain Charity distributed eco-friendly earthen water bowl, bamboo bird house, bamboo feeder and clay bird house, to citizens in city this morning.

This was part of an initiative to revive the population of sparrows in Mysuru city. The Charity members distributed those items to the general public in front of Kukkarahalli Lake Main Gate.

Kokila Jain, Chairperson of the Charity, appealed to the people to use them at their houses to feed water to the thirsty birds and squirrels due to onset of summer. “Please don’t dump after taking these items to home. Use it in the interest of thirsty birds,” she added.

Around 200 items were distributed to citizens.

Charity members Dilkush Kothari, Deepthi Gandhi, Uma Bafna, Sapna, Urmila Salecha, and Yoga Guru Madhu Halli and Bannur Parisara Jagruthi Vedike President Mahendra Singh Kalappa were present.

Cycle Jatha

Appealing people to feed birds and animals in the current summer season, over 100 persons took out a Cycle Jatha in city this morning.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) – Law & Order Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda flagged off the jatha in front of Palace Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple premises. The cycle jatha passed through Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle, Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road, Chamaraja Double Road, Krishnaraja Boulevard and culminated in front of  Kukkarahalli Lake.

Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) Chairman L.R. Mahadevaswamy, Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman Hemanth Kumar Gowda, noted ornithologist Dr. Santrupthi, wildlife expert Saptha Girish, Dr. S.P. Yoganna, Vivek Iyengar, Ajay Shastri, D.T. Prakash and others were present.
