District Administration holds meeting on Republic Day celebrations

Mysore/Mysuru: With a fortnight to go for the Republic Day celebration (Jan. 26), the District Administration held a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office yesterday.

Addressing the meeting, Additional DC R. Lokanath said that the 74th Republic Day celebrations will be held at Bannimantap Parade Grounds at 9 am on Jan. 26.

Pointing out that it has been planned to hold the event with a more purposeful manner, Lokanath said that District Minister S.T. Somashekar will hoist the National Flag at 9 am to set off the celebrations.

“District-level officials must hoist the National Flag at their respective offices at 8 am on Jan. 26, following which they should compulsorily attend the programme at Bannimantap Parade Grounds along with their staff. The Department of Public Instructions should take measures to host cultural programmes by school children. The Republic Day programme features playing  of National Anthem, Nadageethe and Raithageethe. Also,the NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers, Police and Excise Department personnel should practice the march-past, which will be a part of the event. This apart, the Department heads should ensure that all Government offices are illuminated on that day,” he said adding that the officials should carry out their assigned task with responsibility.

The ADC further instructed the officials to keep Ambulances ready at the venue to meet any medical emergencies.

Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Deputy Secretary Prem Kumar, Additional SP Dr. B.N. Nandini, Karnataka State Government Employees Association District President Govindaraju and other district-level officials attended       the meeting.
