District Minister inspects ongoing development works in city

May 29, 2017

Mysuru: Amidst complaints about the unsatisfactory progress of development works being taken up in and around the city, PWD and District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa today went on a inspection spree, visiting the sites of ongoing works.

Dr. Mahadevappa first visited the site on KRS road in Metagalli, where the 350-beds Mysuru unit of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Centre is coming up.

The project works taken up at a cost of Rs. 115 crore began on Sept. 1, 2014 with completion time stipulated at 24 months. But the Government later extended the deadline by 16 months, according to which the construction works should be completed by Dec. 2017.

The hospital coming up in a 15 acre area has a total built up area of 34,874 sq.mts (main hospital building -30,761sqmts and service building- 4113 sq.mts).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahadevappa said that his inspection was aimed at expediting the ongoing development works. Attributing the delay in the completion of Jayadeva Hospital building due to the incorporation of changes to the building design as advised by Bengaluru Jayadeva Hospital technicians, the Minister said that all the works will be completely by December this year as scheduled and the hospital will become operational by April next year.

Discussing BJP’s charges that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had done little for his home district, Dr. Mahadevappa said Siddharamaiah had sanctioned developmental projects totally worth Rs. 2,000 crore to Mysuru district since becoming the CM four years ago. Pointing out that the ongoing development works in the city was totally worth Rs. 550 crore, the Minister challenged the BJP leaders to take part in a debate on the CM’s contributions to Mysuru District.

Chamaraja MLA Vasu, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, MUDA Commissioner Dr. M. Mahesh and others were present. Dr. Mahadevappa later inspected the works on Trauma Care Centre coming up near ED Hospital on KRS road and District Hospital complex coming up in ED Hospital campus.
