A.K. Sadana bags Mysuru Mithra Bellimahotsava Gold Medal in Journalism
Mysore/Mysuru: The family of Mysuru District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa has instituted four endowment prizes at the University of Mysore (UoM), including gold medals and cash awards for meritorious students across disciplines.
The endowments have been instituted in the names of Dr. Mahadevappa, his son Sunil Bose, and daughter-in-law M.K. Savitha, who also serves as the Registrar of the University of Mysore.
The awards were instituted in 2025. According to University norms, an endowment must be in place for at least one year so that the accrued interest can be distributed to students.
To ensure that students could receive the awards from this year’s Convocation itself, the Minister’s family paid the interest for the first year at the time of instituting the endowments, enabling the prizes to be awarded without delay.
The endowment prizes were presented to students during the recently held 106th Annual Convocation of Mysore University.
Among the recipients, K. Anusha received Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa Gold Medal for M.A. in Ambedkar Studies. M. Tejas of Maharaja’s College was awarded Sunil Bose Cash Prize for B.A. while M. Suhas Naik received M.K. Savitha (KAS) Cash Prize for B.A. in Geography.
In the postgraduate category, V.P. Hrithika was awarded the M.K. Savitha (KAS) Cash Prize for M.Sc. Geography.
Meanwhile, Prof. N.K. Lokanath Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal was awarded to Merlin Albert for M.Sc. Physics and Savithramma & Krishnappa Gowda Neratur Gold Medal for B.Sc., instituted by the incumbent VC Prof. Lokanath this year in memory of his parents, was bagged by S.L. Sinchana.
