50% rebate on traffic fines
2,75,853 cases settled in Lok Adalat; over Rs. 6.89 crore fine
Mysuru: The 50 percent rebate on pending traffic fines announced by the State Government which was implemented from June 21 concluded on July 10 with the District Police collecting a total of Rs. 74,71,500 fine in 29,567 cases from June 21 to July 10 while a total of 2,75,853 Traffic (Challan) Violation cases were settled in the Lok Adalat and a total fine of Rs. 6,89,97,375 was collected across the district.
Following the announcement, the District Police began to collect the pending fines from June 21 and on July 10, the Police collected fines from the owner of a bike which had 139 cases and from another bike which had 81 cases. Also, owners of 426 vehicles which had more than five pending traffic cases have paid the fines through online and by visiting their nearest Police Stations.
Lok Adalat: Following direction from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bengaluru, Lok Adalat was conducted across the district on July 11 during which a total of 2,75,853 Traffic (Challan) Violation cases were settled and Rs. 6,89,97,350 fines were collected. Also, there were a total of 30,055 civil and criminal cases, which could have settled amicably out of which 15,606 cases were taken up and 10,775 cases were settled.
