‘Golden Star’ Ganesh appeals all Policemen to get vaccinated on priority
Mysore/Mysuru: When everyone in the country has been asked to remain indoors during lockdown and is receiving all the knowledge in the world on how to deal with social isolation, it’s mostly the Policemen that one sees on the roads, maintaining law and order and also enforcing rules.
In the process, they get infected with the virus and in Mysuru, there are over 50 Policemen who have contracted the disease and there are over 25 family members who are also infected. The Mysuru District Police regularly organises virtual stress management programmes and counselling sessions to beat the deadly virus.
Online sessions through Zoom app are also held by Superintendent of Police (SP) C.B. Ryshyanth regarding enforcement of law on a day-to-day basis. The counselling session that was held yesterday was attended by ‘Golden Star’ Ganesh, who volunteered to be a part to boost the morale of the Policemen and their families who are under treatment.
Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Additional SP R. Shivakumar said that the counselling sessions are held every week and this time they had a celebrity (Ganesh) who spoke in detail to the infected Policemen and their families through the virtual medium.
Along with Ganesh, Dr. Nanda from Narayana Hrudayalaya spoke to the Policemen and advised them on medication and cleared the doubts on vaccines, combating comorbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.
The Policemen were asked to monitor their health constantly and alert senior officers in case there is any difference in the health. Prescriptions were provided and also the existing medical routine of the patients were examined. Actor Ganesh, thanking the Policemen for their selfless work in controlling the contagion, said that all Policemen must get vaccinated on priority.
“All those Policemen who are above 18 must get inoculated on priority. Please don’t wait for any particular vaccine brand to arrive. Both the brands — Covishield and Covaxin — are safe,” he appealed.
Shivakumar said that Ganesh himself volunteered to counsel Policemen and SP Ryshyanth agreed as it will be a morale-booster for the staff and family members.
Apart from counselling from celebrities, the District Police is also organising video-conferencing sessions for law enforcement. All Circle Inspectors, Dy.SPs and Sub-Inspectors under the District Police jurisdictions mandatorily attend the call that is organised by District Armed Reserve (DAR) Dy.SP Satish and Additional SP Shivakumar.
During the call, SP discusses all Government orders passed from time to time to control the pandemic. The senior staffs are informed two hours before the call and generally, law enforcement is discussed like penalties for not wearing a mask and the number of needlessly moving vehicles seized where Policemen are expected to produce statistics of each Police Station.
