CII workshop on ‘Corporate Wellness’ held
Mysuru: Advising professionals, Corporate leaders, IT-BT employees and all others not to sacrifice health for wealth, Swami Dr. Shantivratanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, has said that everyone should change their attitude for wellness and well-being in life in these days of testing time.
He was delivering the keynote address at the day-long conference on ‘Corporate Wellness,’ with the theme ‘Wellness and well-being for a happy workplace,’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru, at Hotel Radisson Blu here this morning.
Pointing out that professionals, businessmen and the like are under severe stress and strains for developing business and earning wealth, especially in these days of cut-throat competition, the Swamiji maintained that wellness is ‘a choice made by us.’
Reiterating his call for changing our attitude, he stressed on the need for dedicating ourselves to the society.
Observing that we can become economically, mentally and physically strong only if our health is good, the Swamiji, referring to the present preferences of most techies, cautioned that running after wealth, while ignoring health and well-being, may lead to unhappiness and sickness later in life.
Noting that in neighbouring China and other Western countries, the common perception is ‘My country first, my progress next,’ Dr. Shantivratanandaji regretted that it was just the opposite in our country where the attitude ‘My progress first, my country next’, was widely prevalent.
Underlining that group work holds key for the country and companies to prosper, he opined that a positive change in our attitude can cause wellness and well-being in the society.
CFTRI Director Dr. Raghava Rao, who was the guest of honour, said that one will be happy, if he/she achieves something. But now this perception has changed over the years, with most management gurus saying that you will achieve more if you are happy.
Maintaining that practicing ‘early to bed and early to rise’ principle is vital for maintaining good health, he underlined the need for consuming fresh natural foods for better health. He also gave a brief on many healthy foods introduced by the CFTRI.
Earlier, Arjun Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysuru and CEO, N. Ranga Rao & Sons (Pvt.) Ltd., welcomed. Dr. Lakhminarayana Shenoy, Assistant Director, AYUSH Research Centre, Mysuru, Dr. N. Muthukumar, Chairman, CII Karnataka, Bhaskar Kalale, Vice-Chairman, CII Karnataka and others were present.
