Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Chairperson Pushpavalli has instructed banks not to force beneficiaries to adjust the financial assistance received under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme towards loan arrears or interest payments.

Chairing a meeting of the MCC Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee at the MCC main office on New Sayyaji Rao Road yesterday, Pushpavalli, a former Deputy Mayor, said she had received complaints from two beneficiaries regarding such practices.

She said one beneficiary had even changed the bank account linked to the scheme to prevent the assistance amount from being adjusted towards loan repayment or interest. There could be more such instances, she said, adding that the Committee would take appropriate action if beneficiaries submitted complaints.

“Irrespective of the loan amount, banks have no provision to adjust the assistance amount without the consent of beneficiaries. The Government has also issued clear directions in this regard. If banks continue to act unilaterally, a recommendation will be made to the Government to initiate suitable action,” Pushpavalli said.

Rs. 27.67 crore disbursed

Child Development Planning Officer (CDPO) Abhikumar said that if a beneficiary dies, another elderly woman member from the same family is eligible to apply for the scheme.

In Mysuru city alone, financial assistance of Rs. 27.67 crore is being provided to 1.38 lakh (1,38,355) beneficiaries.

Rs. 15.93 crore under Yuva Nidhi

Employment Officer of the Industrial Training and Employment Department Mohammed Akbar said 6,707 candidates in Mysuru taluk have enrolled under the Yuva Nidhi scheme.

Of them, 5,743 candidates are receiving financial assistance, while applications of remaining 964 candidates are under process. Till January 2026, Rs. 15.93 crore has been released under scheme in Mysuru taluk.
