Dr. CPK turns 80, couple feted

Mysuru: Nrupathunga Charitable Trust, National Human Rights and RTI Service Committee and Ursu Jagruthi Academy had organised a function titled ‘Dr. CPK avara 80ra Sambhrama’ to mark the 80th birthday of Littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar (CPK), which also featured the release of two books at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Monday.

Inaugurating the programme, former Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda opined that the assistance of the Government is needed to come out with a comprehensive volume featuring all the literary works of Dr. CPK. He lauded the senior writer who has contributed immensely with quality literature. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. CPK recalled that final copy of the book is different from the draft copy, which literally amounted to two books and involved a lot of time. He expressed gratitude to late Dr. Dejagow couple for nurturing him when he first came to Mysuru.

Dr. CPK couple was felicitated on the occasion. Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji released two books — ‘Dr. CPK Chutuku Thorana’ and ‘Kavyakke Guru.’

Ursu Jagruthi Academy presented ‘Dwani Kotta Dhani’ awards to Maddikere Gopal, C. Jagadish, Shanta Mahadevaprasad, K.B. Lingaraj, Raghavendra Raje Urs, Shivakumar, B. Kumar, Maleyuru Umesh and Madurya Ramaswamy.

Former UoM VC Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Kuvempu University VC Dr. P. Venkataramaiah, writer K. Bhairava Murthy, Academy Chairman Dr. D. Thimmaiah, Dr. MGR Urs, Madhu Dikshit and others were present.

Various organisations felicitate Dr. CPK

Members of various organisations called on Dr. CPK at his residence in Saraswathipuram here and felicitated him on turning 80 on Monday.

The felicitation was organised jointly by Kannada Chaluvaligarara Kendra Samiti, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, District Sharana Sahitya Parishat and Kannada Sahitya Kala Koota.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. CPK regretted that Kannada Movements were on the decline today, which should regain its vigour to safeguard the importance and richness of Kannada.

Kannada Sahitya Kala Koota President M. Chandrashekar lauded Dr. CPK for coming out with 300 books, a boost to Kannada literature. He also commended Dr. CPK’s contribution to Chutuku Sahitya.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Director (Publishing) Prof. Morabada Mallikarjuna, Dasthi Education Institution President Dr. D. Thimmaiah, Theatre Artiste Rajashekar Kadamba, Samiti President Muguru Nanjundaswamy, Parishat Mysuru President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna and former President Maddikere Gopal were present.
