Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar was a spirit behind scores of artistes, noted actress of yesteryears Jayamala, who is also the President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), said the thespian Dr. Rajkumar always blessed and wished budding artistes and she was one among them.
She was speaking after inaugurating ‘Raj Sangama – Girikanye Sambhrama’ Musical Nite organised by Arunaraga Creations, Mysuru, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajkumar and Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar at MBCT auditorium in Vishweswaranagar here on Sunday.
“I would not have made name and fame in Kannada cinema industry had I not been selected as heroine for Dr. Raj’s film ‘Girikanye’. I feel virtuous for having acted in 7 films with Dr. Rajkumar,” Jayamala maintained.
Film Producer Srinivas, Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Ayub Khan, Kannada and Culture Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Mysuru District Sugama Sangeetha Parishat President Dr. Nagaraj V. Bairy, Senior Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. H.P. Shobha, Golden Suresh, Yedeyur Samiulla, Arunaraga Creations Head Dr. Rekha Arun and others were present. The Musical Nite featured hits from Dr. Raj and Jayamala-starrer films.
