Dr. Veerendra Heggade launches RUDSETI’s activities report

Mysuru:  The report of the activities of Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI), Hinkal, Mysuru, which is in its 27th year of existence, was unveiled recently by Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade in Dharmasthala.

As part of the activities, 31 self-employment training programmes as against the budgeted 31 programmes covering 777 candidates was conducted. Of these training programmes, seven were Agriculture EDPs (Entrepreneurship Development Programmes), one Product EDP, 11 Process EDPs, 10 General EDPs and two programmes under Wage Employment.

Of the 777 trained candidates, 194 were trained under Agri EDPs, 20 under Product EDP, 278 under Process EDP, 242 under General EDPs and 43 under Wage Employment.

Post-training follow-up is the Unique Selling Preposition (USP) of RUDSETI training.

About 235 candidates settled this year making the Institute’s overall settlement rate to 30 percent. 84 follow-up meetings were conducted to cover 933 candidates.

Rural Development being the main motto, during this year 588 candidates from Rural areas, 55 from Semi-urban sector and 134 from Urban sector were covered. Among 29 Self-Employment training programmes conducted during the year, eight were under Govt.-sponsored Schemes involving 188 candidates.

Of the total trained 777 candidates, category-wise break-up of candidates is as follows: SC – 242 (31%), ST – 85 ( 11%), OBC  – 389 (50%), Minorities – 30 (4)% & Other candidates – 31 (4%). In all, 591 belonged to BPL category constituting 76% of the total trained candidates.

This year, 118 Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes covering 7,424 participants, 15 Sensitisation programmes covering about 462 participants and seven Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme (EOP) covering 212 persons were conducted.

Sponsorship from Banks

Syndicate Bank sponsored 33 candidates, Canara Bank 17 candidates, five from Kaveri Grameena Bank and 71 candidates were sponsored by other Banks in the command area.

Looking into the gender-wise training participation, of the total number of 777 trained candidates, 329 are women forming 42% and 438 are men with 57% and 10 were transgenders forming 1%. Four District-Level Advisory Committee of RSETIs meetings were conducted during this financial year.

Two Skill Upgradation programmes — one each under Advanced Digital Photography and Advanced Beauty Parlour covering a total of 45 candidates were also conducted.

VIPs’ visit :During this financial year, P.J. Soundararajan, Under Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, New Delhi; Melwyn Rego, former MD and CEO, Syndicate Bank; C.B.L. Narasimha Rao, General Manager, PSCD, Syndicate Bank, Corporate Office, Bengaluru and B.R. Hiremath, Deputy Zonal Manager, Syndicate Bank, Zonal Office, Manipal, were the VIPs who visited the Institute.

Two teams of 56 delegates from Afro-Asian nations covering Afghanistan, Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sri Lanka Tanzania, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe visited the Institute and interacted with the trainees. These teams were led by officials of Ni-MSME, Hyderabad and NIRD&PR, Hyderabad, as part of their eight-week international training programmes.

During the current year, eight MSW students from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and K.R. Nagar, apart from six Management students of SDM-IMD, Mysuru, attended their internship at the Institute, according to a press release from RUDSETI, Mysuru.
