Dust settles after Dasara Wrestling

Mysuru: This year’s Dasara Wrestling Championship came to an end with Pailwan Shivaiah Poojari of Bagalkot winning the ‘Dasara Kanteerava’ title,  Pailwan Sadashiva Nalavade of Mudhol emerging as ‘Dasara Kesari,’ Pailwan Kuruvara Sanjeeva of Davanagere  as ‘Dasara Kishora,’ Pailwan S. Shalini of Davanagere as ‘Dasara Kishori’ and Pailwan Girish of Palahalli in Mandya as ‘Dasara Kumara’ in the final bouts held at D. Devaraja Urs Multipurpose Stadium here yesterday.

In the final bout for ‘Dasara Kanteerava’ title, Pailwan Shivaiah Poojari defeated Pailwan Bapu Saheb Sindhe of Mudhol.

Meanwhile, Pailwan Sadashiva Nalavade defeated Pailwan Basavaraj Patil of Davanagere to emerge as ‘Dasara Kesari’; Pailwan Kuruvara Sanjeeva defeated Pailwan Mahesh P. Gowda of  Davanagere to win the ‘Dasara Kishore’ title; Pailwan Shalini defeated Pailwan Gayathri of Davanagere to emerge as ‘Dasara Kishori.’ ‘Dasara Kumara’ which is reserved for Pailwans of Mysuru region, was won by Pailwan Girish of Palahalli in Mandya, who defeated Mysuru’s Pailwan R. Nithin.

As announced by the organisers earlier, cash rewards and silver mace were presented to the title winners and cash prizes were awarded to the second and third place winners.

Mysuru Maharaja Wadiyar Cup: Pailwan Bhyrappa Nayaka of Sahukar Chennaiah Akhada; Mysuru Mayor Cup: Pailwan Manu of Bogadi Hathu Janara Garadi; Sahukar Chennaiah Award: Pailwan Suryakanth of Nanjangud Vokkaligara Garadi; Siddaramaiah Award: Pailwan Chandru of Paduvarahalli Hathu Janagala Garadi; Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah Award: International athlete Pailwan Mahesh and Kittur Rani Chennamma Award: Pailwan Nandini of Bannur Kalaiahna Garadi.
