Mysuru:  The Mysuru-based Karnataka Muktaka Sahitya Academy will confer its coveted DVG Muktaka Sahitya Award-2017 on scholar Muktaka Poet Dr. Kabbinale Vasantha Bharadwaj. during its 18th Anniversary function on Feb. 18 at 6.30 pm at Mysuru Vasudevacharya Bhavana, JLB Road, Mysuru.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a Citation.

The function will be inaugurated by the Junior Pontiff of Avadhootha Datta Peetha Sri  Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamji.

On the occasion, the following achievers in different fields will be felicitated — B.H. Nagarathana (Gamaka), Rtn. G.K. Balakrishnan (Rotary Service), Dr. N.M. Shamasundar (Medicine), R.K. Raghavan (Music), Mohan Varnekar (Artist), Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao (Dance), G.N. Bhatta (Literature, Critic).

At 5 pm, there will be a vocal recital of selected Muktakas by Vidu. Shashikala Chandrashekar, according to a press release from M.B. Santhosh, General Secretary of the Academy.
