Mysuru: The following were elected as the Board of Directors to three different Co-operative Banks in city at the elections held yesterday.

The Graduates Co-operative Bank

Election to seven posts of Director (General Category) was held at Maharaja PU College on JLB road here yesterday.

R. Anantaramu came first by securing 2,222 votes, followed by P.V. Narahari (2,151 votes), K.G. Satish (2,085 votes), N. Srinivas (2,071 votes), M.A. Hemalatha (2,068 votes), T.S. Ravishankar (2,037 votes) and S.N. Jagadish (1,843 votes).

This is the fourth successive win for R. Anantaramu with highest numbers of votes from amongst all the contestants. Only 2,718 out of the 12,079 members of the Bank exercised their franchise. Among the prominent losers were former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President N. Girigowda and the Bank’s former President Dr. Prabha Mandal. Earlier, Sujatha Srinivas Rao and K.V. Lakshmidevi (women reserved), C. Kamalamma and M.S. Rajaram (OBC reserved) and Sujatha Venkataraju (SC reserved) were declared elected unopposed, with the ST reserved seat lying vacant.

Mysuru District Women’s Co-operative Bank

Polling for 11 posts of Director was held at Hardwicke High School on JLB road on Sunday. There were 22 candidates in the fray. Dr. M.V. Bruhadamba bagged the highest number of votes with 781, followed by Manjula Manasa (753 votes), Prema Shankaregowda (747 votes), D. Gowramma (742 votes), S. Ashalatha (734 votes), Shivakumari (722 votes) and B.S. Premakumari (717 votes).

All were elected from general category seats.

Susheela Nanjappa was elected from Mysuru Taluk (728 votes), C.S. Komala from Hunsur Taluk (633 votes), Prabha Suresh from Kollegal Taluk (680 votes) and Dr. Bhageerathi from SC reserved seat (607 votes).

Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Mysuru, K.S. Harish was the Returning Officer.

Vijayanagar Credit Co-operative Society

The following were elected as Directors of the Society in the election held on Sunday.

General Category: H.M. Ningaraju, K.M. Teertharaju, A.P. Charan, J. Manju, Harish, S. Sharath and M.K. Vijaya Kumar. Latha and Rathna were elected from woman reserved seats, while J. Suresh and R. Suresh Ranjan were elected from Backward Class-A category reserved seats, Srinivas from SC reserved seat and G. Nagabhushan from ST reserved seat were elected.
