Elected leaders have failed Sy. No. 4 victims: Mysureans together must fight all kinds of Govt. apathy

March 9, 2017

Sir,

The raging controversy over layouts coming under Kurubarahalli Survey No. 4 and Alanahalli Survey No. 41 clearly shows that our elected representatives including the MP, MLAs, MLCs and Corporators have not exerted pressure on the State Government to resolve the long-pending issue that has been created by some government officials who lacked knowledge about the history of these layouts.

These layouts were formed 25 years back by the Government’s own department through City Improvement Trust Board (CITB), now MUDA and transferred to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) as per law believing that a responsible government will not make layouts on illegal lands. Unfortunately, the land on which property owners have built their houses has been discovered as ‘B Kharab’ on which no houses can be built unless it is converted to ‘A Kharab’ or whatever. This power to convert ‘B Kharab’ to ‘A Kharab’ or whatever is vested with the government. Then what is the problem?

This issue also shows that our government machinery has become dysfunctional. Now if a person wants to buy a site in Mysuru who should he consult? Should he go to MUDA, very well knowing that MUDA has bungled in the Kurubarahalli issue?

I feel that in future no one will have any confidence when MUDA sells sites in Mysuru as there is every chance of buyers landing in trouble after legally purchasing them as has happened now.

If the government is really serious, it should be possible to resolve it in a few months. Now, it is three years and nothing is done. Looks like a sadist government.

This is not just a problem of the residents of the said survey numbers. Every Mysurean should feel that it is their problem too and when a wrong is done to a fellow Mysurean, all of us should stand up and fight against injustice. Here the property rights of our fellow Mysureans have been violated and we need to put pressure on our elected leaders.
