Emergency windows at wrong place

January 12, 2020

Sir,

Recently I happened to visit City Railway Station to give send off to my friend who was proceeding to Chennai by early morning Chennai Super Fast train. There I observed that several of the emergency windows in non-A/C chair car coaches were fixed at wrong place (see photo).

In general, emergency windows or doors should not have any obstruction to enable people to escape easily from the place. However, chairs are blocking the emergency windows in the chair car coaches of this train.

It will obstruct people to come out of the coaches in case of emergency. Similar problem might be existing in some other racks too. This may please be rectified to make these windows usable and this point may be kept in mind while designing new coaches.
