Encouraging children’s talent will have better impact on their future: VC

Mysore/Mysuru: “Identifying and encouraging the talents of children from their young age will have a better impact on their future which will help them to succeed,” said University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar.

He was speaking after distributing prizes for the winners of various competitions and felicitating senior artists at a programme organised by Ganabharathi Trust as part of Sri Krishna Jayanthi celebrations at Veena Sheshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar here recently.

“Every year over 950 students will receive their graduation certificates at the UoM convocation. This programme is completely different from the convocation we hold which gives a very different experience,” the VC said and called upon the students to concentrate on building a successful life by excelling in academics and bring pride to Mysuru.

Senior artists Vidu. Geetha Ramananda (Veena), Vid. M.L. Krishnaswamy, Vid. G.S. Ramanujan (Mridanga), Vid. Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao (Bharatanatyam) and Vid. Prof. Aravinda Hebbar (Art critic) were felicitated on the occasion.

17-25 years senior category: N. Shashank, Nayana Nagaraj, D. Poorvitha, C.S. Shreya, H.V. Shama, M.P. Amogh Kashyap, Nihal Prakash, P. Pranav, R. Anirudh, Ramanathan and Skanda P. Kumar.

Satyanarayana Raju presented Bharatanatyam while Vid. D. S. Srivatsa rendered vocal concert on the occasion. He was accompanied by Nikhil Manjunath on Natuvanga, Vid. G.S. Nagaraj on Mridanga and Vid . Karthik Sathavalli on flute.

Ganabharathi Trust President Dr. Rama V.  Bennur, Mahaposhak Dr. C.G. Narasimhan, Vice-President H.R. Sundareshan, Executive Committee member Dr. Kripa Phadke and others were present on                             the occasion.
