Police on the lookout for absconding husband

Mysore/Mysuru: A M.Tech gold medallist, who was working as an Assistant Professor at a reputed Engineering College in city has committed suicide by hanging self at her flat in Vishweshwaranagar on Friday night. It is alleged that the woman had taken the extreme step following frequent harassment by her hubby.

The deceased is Asha (31), wife of Nagaprasad, a Medical Representative, who was residing at an apartment in Vishweshwaranagar.

A native of Madenahalli, near Halagur in Maddur taluk of Mandya district, Asha, who was in love with Nagaprasad of Malavalli, had married him about nine years ago and the couple has a six-year-old son. Asha had bagged a rank in M.Tech Computer Science and had bagged two gold medals, which was presented to her in the recently held Convocation of Mysore University.

It is learnt that everything was going good between Asha and Nagaprasad until recently, when fights began to erupt for silly reasons and the couple had even knocked the doors of Police Station twice.

According to the complaint from Asha’s family members, Asha was depressed over frequent harassment by Nagaprasad and was staying separately in a flat of an apartment. But here too, Nagaprasad is said to have been harassing her frequently and used to pester her to bring money. Unable to bear the harassment, Asha took the extreme step, the complaint added.

Vidyaranyapuram Police, who have registered a case, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to Asha’s family members.
