The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has announced last date for property tax payment with 5% discount. Pandemic COVID-19 has affected every activity in our daily life.  Going out for any reason is becoming scary as we, Indians, hardly care for any precautions announced by the Government in our own interest. 

Despite restrictions in some of the blocks, we see people rushing out on slightest opportunity and crowding —- whether to buy vegetables or groceries, throwing all precautions of social distancing to wind. Only a negligible percentage of people wear masks and keep distance, otherwise, it is free for all! 

In view of this situation, MCC should entrust tax collection responsibility to concerned Ward Officials who can visit the residences and collect property tax at their doorstep. This will avoid crowding of people at Ward Offices which could ultimately end up in spreading the deadly virus.

 This will also relieve the senior citizens  who normally take up the responsibility of such payments in most of the families. 

Hope, the dynamic and energetic MCC Commissioner takes the initiative early.
