Ex-Mayor Sandesh Swamy opposes MCC Ward delimitation, reservation

June 23, 2018

Mysuru: Former Mayor and MCC Corporator Sandesh Swamy has strongly opposed the MCC Ward delimitation and the reservation announced by the Government.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, Sandesh Swamy said that the Ward delimitation made on the basis of 2011 population census was unscientific.

Maintaining that Ward delimitation must be made by including all Layouts along the Ring Road, he urged the Government to also include new Layouts in Ward delimitation.

Claiming that 43 Layouts have been kept out of MCC Ward delimitation, he said that the Government should take up fresh delimitation in order to render justice to residents of Layouts who have been kept out of delimitation.

Accusing the Government of announcing Ward reservation in haste, he said that the reservation would not do justice to anybody.

Questioning the Government on announcing Ward reservation when the current MCC tenure is skill almost three months, he said that the entire reservation needs a re-look.

Noting that Mysuru is a ‘B’ category city, he said that every Ward must cover a population of 15,000. But even as the Government was in election mode, the officials, taking advantage of the situation, had made Ward delimitation as per their will.

Asserting that the Ward delimitation and reservation is not as per democratic norms, he said that MP Pratap Simha MLAs Nagendra and S.A. Ramdas will draw the attention of the Government regarding these anomalies.

Corporator Mahadevappa was present during the press meet.
