Mysuru: Former Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha has submitted a memorandum to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner M.K. Savitha, demanding special camps on coming Sundays to facilitate the completion of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, besides allowing BJP workers willing to work as volunteers to assist Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and to clear footpath encroachments in the heart of the city.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Simha said, he has urged the MCC Commissioner to organise special SIR camps at respective Polling Booths, to address the confusions, on coming three Sundays from 8 am to 6 pm. Even though SIR process was launched on June 30, confusions still prevail among voters. Some of the voters are yet to receive their Enumeration Forms, while some lack knowledge on filling the forms. Confusions galore especially about two BLOs having the jurisdiction of same roads, he said.

As Booth Level Agents (BLA)-2, BJP workers intend to do their mite by assisting the BLOs at the polling booths. During the course of camp, the confusions related to filling of forms, scrutiny of documents, voter list of 2002, information related to parents and others shall be solved. If the remaining two Sundays are effectively used, the SIR process can be successfully completed, he added.

BJP workers, by actively participating in SIR process, are keen on reducing the burden on BLOs, who are already doing multi-tasking by distributing  Enumeration Forms, going door-to-door, filling of forms, scanning of documents, upload and submission of daily reports, said Simha.

Similar memorandum was submitted to Deputy Commissioner two days ago and the MCC Commissioner has assured to discuss with the former, said Simha.

Insisting on taking up a drive against footpath encroachments in the city on the lines of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) in the interest of pedestrians, Simha said he has asked the MCC Commissioner to take up the drive on a stretch of Sayyaji Rao road from K.R. Circle, opposite the Doddagadiyara and the surroundings of Rangacharlu Memorial Town Hall. Alternative arrangements should be made for the footpath vendors.

Former Deputy Mayor V. Shylendra, former Corporators T. Girish Prasad and Sriram, C.B. Rajesh, M.N. Prakash, BJP Mandala President Dinesh Gowda and others were present.
