Mysuru: Amid the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in the district following the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, the Excise Department has strengthened its actions against unauthorized sale of liquor besides to curb the movement of liquor across the district.

The Department has drawn up an elaborate plan in accordance with the EC’s guidelines to curb use of liquor power in the elections. As Illegally Distilled (ID) liquor is posing a major challenge for prohibition, the Excise officials will keep a close watch.

Apart from Non Duty Paid Liquor (NDPL), the Excise officials have increased vigilance on liquor supplies to check the stocks. As supplies are also set to be regulated following Code of Conduct, officials will keep close vigil on locally brewed liquor in the market, especially in rural areas.

The Department has set up Control Rooms including the Office of Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Deputy Superintendent of Excise and in all taluks. The Control Room will work the round-the-clock to check illegal sale, to curb movement of liquor, illegal procurement, storing and manufacturing.

Public can lodge their complaints by dialling the following numbers if they come across any illegal activities in their vicinity. The names of the informers and whistle- blowers will be kept a secret.
