December 13, 2019

H.D. Kote: A man, irked over his wife for not bringing money from her parents’ house, has allegedly smashed his wife’s shoulder with a grinding stone at Vaddarapalya in H.D. Kote taluk. The woman has been admitted at H.D. Kote General Hospital.

While the victim is 26-year-old Renuka and her husband who allegedly assaulted her with the grinding stone is 30-year-old Krishna. The couple were married seven years ago and have a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.

It is learnt that Krishna and his mother Lakshmamma has been harassing Renuka for dowry after a few days of her marriage with Krishna and used to harass her mentally and physically.

On Monday, a few people from a bank, which had given loan to Krishna to purchase a two-wheeler landed at his door step and seized the two-wheeler as he had not paid the instalments. Krishna then sent his wife Renuka to her parents’ house to get money as he had to get back his seized two-wheeler.

As Renuka’s parents were labourers, they did not have money to give her and hence she returned home only to face the wrath of her husband and mother-in-law, who threw hot food on her face and assaulted her. As Krishna’s anger had not calmed down, he picked up a grinding stone and hit the right shoulder of Renuka resulting in Renuka falling unconscious.

As the news of Renuka being assaulted spread in the village, the village elders convened a meeting and asked Renuka’s parents to take her home. Her parents after taking Renuka to home, admitted her to H.D. Kote General Hospital. H.D. Kote Police, who have registered a case in this regard are investigating.
