Farmer ends life

Periyapatna:  A 52-year old farmer, unable to clear debts, ended his life by hanging self at his farm at Poonadahalli in Periyapatna taluk yesterday. P.V. Ramesh (52), son of Venkatappa of Poonadahalli is the deceased.

Ramesh was said to be in deep debts, after borrowing loans from banks and private money lenders. Ramesh, who was deeply depressed by crop loss and crash in prices, committed suicide by hanging from a tree at his farmland on Friday evening.

He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. The Periyapatna Police have registered a case.
