Farmers catch leopard cub in maize plantation

Hunsur: Farmers have caught a leopard cub from a maize plantation at Mookanahalli in Hunsur last evening.

A group of farmers who were working in the maize plantation belonging to one Raviprasanna found the leopard cub and informed the villagers. They then caught the cub, tied it and informed the Forest Department officials.

Range Forest Officer (RFO) Sandith, Deputy Range Forest Officer (DRFO) Rizwan Ahmed, Pyarejan and Satish, who rushed to the spot, took the leopard cub, aged about three months into their custody.

The villagers informed the Forest staff about the presence of more cubs in the plantation, following which the forest staff have placed a cage to trap them.

Meanwhile, the leopard cub, which was injured while being rescued is being treated at the Hunsur Forest Department Office and would be released into the forest after it recovers from the injuries.
