Fast food joints raided, Rs. 7,000 fine collected

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officers, who raided several roadside vendors, fast food joints and hotels across the city on Friday night, have imposed fines on the owners for maintaining unhygienic condition and for using plastic covers.

The Health Inspectors of all nine MCC Zones carried out the surprise raids simultaneously on food joints in their respective limits and collected a fine amount of Rs.7,000. 

The raids were conducted following complaints about lack of hygiene, non-segregation of dry and wet waste and for using of plastic covers for packing. 

The drive would continue, said MCC Health Officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraj said that the drive would continue and has urged roadside vendors and owners of fast food joints to maintain cleanliness and not to use banned plastic for packing food.
