Faulty Second PUC evaluation affects 2,777 students

March 31, 2022

Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister B.C. Nagesh has informed the State Legislative Council that 2,777 2nd PU students were affected because of faulty evaluation of their answer scripts in the three last years.

The Minister was answering to a question raised by BJP MLC N. Ravikumar in this regard. Minister Nagesh admitted that students have been affected by incorrect evaluation of  answer scripts and the Department has not imposed any fine on evaluators.

He said that in this competitive world difference of 6 marks (less or more),  should be reconsidered.  In the academic year 2019-20, four evaluators who wrongly evaluated answer scripts were fined just Rs. 400. Examinations were not held for the year 2020-21 because of COVID-19. But  the Government had  issued directions to conduct examinations for those students who do not accept the result. Even in this year, no fine have been imposed on evaluators who did not evaluate the answer scripts properly.

2,777 students were affected because of the faulty evaluation of 2nd PUC answer scripts. The affected students were given the scanned copies of their answer scripts and if there is a difference  of 6 or more marks their revaluation fees have  been refunded, the Minister added.

He also informed the Council that 1,008 students were affected  in the year 2019-20 with a variation of over 6 marks and said that the issue of action to be taken against those who do faulty evaluation of answer scripts will be discussed in the Council.
