Rotary 3190 had organised a function at Urs Kar Service Centre on Hunsur Road in Hinkal here on Monday to welcome M.J. Pavan and Bhagyasri Sawant, who returned after a cycle tour of 18 States and five Union Territories in the country, spreading awareness on polio eradication and literacy.

The two distinguished persons were felicitated by Rotary International Past District Governor Rtn. R. Guru.

Speaking on the occasion, Pavan opined that everybody should strive for the development of the country.

He observed that the younger generation should be effectively utilised for creating awareness on polio eradication and necessity of literacy. He added that the knowledge power in the country should be properly channelised.

Rotary International District Secretary Rtn. B.L. Nagendraprasad and others were present on the occasion.
