Five-day Niranthara Ranga Utsava in city from Dec. 17

The five-day Niranthara Ranga Utsava, organised by Niranthara Foundation, Mysuru, will be held at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises from Dec. 17 to 21.

Dec. 17 (6.15 pm): Poet & Thinker S.G. Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Fest. Senior theatre person Rameshwari Verma and Prasad Kundur of Niranthara will be present.

Dec. 18 (6.15 pm): Poet & Senior Journalist G.P. Basavaraju and Department of Kannada & Culture Assistant Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan will take part in the stage programme.

Dec. 19 (6.15 pm): Theatre Artiste Rajappa Dalavai and Srinivasu Palahalli of Niranthara will take part in the stage programme.

Dec. 20 (6.15 pm): Dr. D. Vijayalakshmi, Professor, Maharaja’s  College and Department of Kannada & Culture Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy will take part in the stage programme.

Dec. 21 (6.15 pm): Valedictory ceremony. Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Senior Theatre Director Chidambara Rao Jambe, Thinker Devanura Basavaraju and M.M. Suguna of Niranthara will be present.

The five-day Theatre Festival will feature the following cultural programmes and plays:

December  17

5.30 pm: Jade Kolata by Manava Team, Hassan.

7 pm: Staging of the play ‘Nanna Tejaswi’ (based on Rajeshwari Tejaswi’s autobiography)

Theatre Adaptation, Design and Direction: B.M. Giriraj

December 18

5.30 pm: B.V. Karanth’s Theatre Songs presentation by Devanand Varaprasad & Niranthara Team.

7 pm: ‘Naada Sanje’ jugalbandi by Ravi Shankar Mishra on Flute, Junaid Khan on Sitar and Rishi Prasad on Tabla (Austin,Texas, USA).

December 19

5.30 pm: Srinivas Bhat’s (Cheeni) Theatre Songs by Devanand Varaprasad and Niranthara Team.  7 pm: Staging of the play ‘Prathi Gandharva’

5.30 pm: Veeraghase performance by Naveen Kumar and Team, Kadur.

7 pm: Stating of play ‘Kodalla Andre Kodalla’ (based on Dario Fo’s ‘Can’t pay, Won’t pay)

Troupe: Nirdiganta, Srirangapatna

Music: Anush Shetty;  Concept, Design and Direction: Shakeel Ahmed
