Flower Show at Mysore Palace from Dec.23 to Jan.1

Mysuru:  A ten-day Flower Show has been organised at the Varaha Garden in the Mysore Palace from Dec.23. Along with it, photography and dolls exhibition and children’s festival has also been organised.

Flower Show: Mysore Palace Board, Horticulture Department and a few other organisations are jointly organising the  Flower Show. The Horticulture Department is arranging nearly 10,000 flower pots with 33 varieties of flowers.

The efforts by the Department is noteworthy as they are trying to recreate the replica of the old wooden Mysore Palace (which was burnt in a fire). Clay models of the Maharaja sitting on the golden throne with six of his guards by his side decorated with flowers, elephant cart, a tower like entrance are some of the other attractions.

Keeping in mind the childrens’ interest, elephants, tortoise, star fish, octopus, Chhota Bheem, Bal Krishna figures decorated using flowers, vegetables and fruits will take shape. It is also decided to create a 10 feet high and 279 feet wide vertical garden attached to the wall of the Varahaswamy Temple.

Photography exhibition: A photography exhibition with the theme ‘Dasara then and now’ is being arranged. Documentaries on the earlier Dasaras will be screened. Public can also share the photographs related to the Palace with the Palace Board. The selected photographs will be displayed during the flower show.

Dolls Exhibition: The dolls exhibition with the themes of Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Nava Durga, Satyam-Shivam-Sundaram, Sri Krishna Leela, Hindu festivals, Samudra Manthan and others will be displayed. People who have displayed dolls during Navarathri festival and photographs or videos or other information related to it can reach them to the Palace Board.

Three days Children Fest: Mysore Palace Board, Woman and Child Welfare Department, Bal Bhavan, Public Education Department and other organisations are jointly organising a Children’s Festival from   Dec.23 to 25.

Kamsale, Karaga, Nagari, Kusti, Mallakamba, Fancy Dress, Skipping Dance, Dance with Music, Musical Chair and others will be performed. Along with this, desi sports,  Charaka, Kumbara charaka and yoga training will be imparted in the respective stalls that will be set up for the purpose.

The ten-day Flower Show, to be held from Dec.23 to Jan.1, will be open from10 am to 9 pm. The Palace will be illuminated from 7 pm to 9 pm on all    the ten days.
