Mysuru: After successfully conducting flower shows at Mysore Palace premises since the last two years, the Palace Board has decided to continue the tradition this year too with a ten-day flower show from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1.
The Palace Board’s move is to provide an add-on attraction to tourists visiting Mysuru during Christmas season. As a special attraction this year, there will be a display of dolls, photo and video exhibitions along with a Children’s Festival. Various cultural events have also been planned.
Those who are interested in organising and participating in doll display, photo and video expos can send their entries to Palace Board by Nov. 25. Based on the entries, names of exhibitors/ organisers will be selected and a chance will be provided to them during the flower show.
For the photography expo, the themes will be Mysuru Dasara then and now, rule of Wadiyars and age-old Dasara celebrations. Interested persons may also send video and photo entries and documentaries. For the dolls expo, those interested may send photos and videos of doll exhibitions that they had organised in the past occasions.
For the Children’s Festival, desi games like children’s wrestling, making of earthen pots and vessels, kunte-bille, aligulimane, kolaata, donne-varase and tug-of-war will be organised. Along with such games, an exhibition of rural games and equipment will be held.
