Former IPS officer K.V.R. Tagore passes away

Bengaluru: Former IPS Officer K.V. Ravindranath Tagore (K.V.R. Tagore) passed away at a private Hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday  following brief illness. He was 72.

He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. Last rites were performed yesterday evening on the outskirts of Bengaluru, according to family sources.

A native of Sringeri in Chikkamagalur district, he was the son of the first Sringeri  MLA Late K.N. Veerappa Gowda.

Tagore was a resident of Jayanagar in Bengaluru. After earning his Master’s degree in Indian Philosophy, he  passed LLB in 1972 and joined the Police force as a Dy.SP in 1974. Later, he served in Bengaluru Crime Branch, Traffic Wing and various other Police wings, before retiring as an  ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) in 2009.

He had also served as Director and Commissioner  of Information  Department  and also as Commissioner of the Department of Youth Services and Sports. While serving in the Information Department, he headed the publicity campaign of Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola in 2006.Tagore launched the E-Mail news service of the Information Department at Mysuru on Sept.1, 2007 when he was the Department Commissioner.

Currently, he was serving as the President of Puravankara Suchitra Cine and Cultural Trust at Bengaluru.
