Mysuru: With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who also holds the Finance portfolio, scheduled to present the State Budget on Mar. 7, former city Mayor Sandesh Swamy has appealed the CM to announce a special grant for NR Constituency of Mysuru.
In a press release, Swamy congratulated the CM who will be presenting the budget for a record 16th time on Mar. 7.
“The overall development of Mysuru, which is your home district, is one of your objectives and it is commendable that you have taken many measures in this regard. Now, I appeal you to announce a special grant to NR Constituency which has remained backward for long,” the former Mayor said.
Pointing out that NR Constituency has a higher density of population, with the minorities forming a large chunk, Swamy contended that the Constituency lacked basic facilities and civic amenities.
“The residents of minority communities in areas such as Shanthinagar, Ghousianagar, K.N. Pura, Udayagiri, Azeez Sait Nagar, Bade Makaan, Kurimandi etc., are fed up with lack of basic amenities. Also, there are about 30 revenue localities in this Assembly segment and no one is hearing their grievances. As such, a DC headed team should prepare a report and based on this report, a comprehensive development plan has to be prepared,” he said adding that the CM should announce special funds for the development of this backward Constituency.
Referring to the recent Udayagiri violence, the former Mayor wanted the CM to pay attention for maintaining law and order in sensitive areas of the city.
