Former Minister B.S. Patil Sasanur passes away

Vijayapura: Former Minister and senior Congress leader B.S. Patil Sasanur (87) passed away at BLDE Hospital in Vijayapura last evening following age related illness. He had donated his eyes.

He leaves behind three sons including Somanagouda Patil, BJP MLA from Devarahipparagi Constituency, one daughter and a host of relatives, friends and followers. Patil Sasanur had retired from active politics early this year.  

Patil was a five-time MLA from the erstwhile Hoovinahipparagi Constituency (now Devarahipparagi) and was a Minister for two times. He had held Health and Family Welfare, Sugar, Food and Civil Supplies, Agriculture Produce Marketing portfolios in his career as a Minister.

The last rites of B.S. Patil Sasanur was held today at Bhogeshwara School premises in Hirur village. Prior to that, the body was kept at his native place Sasanur for the public to pay their last respects, according to family members.
