Freedom fighter from Chamarajanagar K.M. Thotappa passes away

Chamarajanagar: K.M. Thotappa (92), a freedom fighter and a resident of Karinanjapura in the town, passed away at a private hospital in Mysuru yesterday morning.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites were held at his farm land today, according to family sources.

Born on July 1, 1931, Thotappa jumped into freedom struggle at the age of 15 and was jailed before the independence was announced in 1947.

The District Administration had honoured him during Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in August last year.
