Ganjam to host two-day jewellery expo in city from Jan. 19

Celebrating ‘International Year of the Bird’

Mysuru:  Ganjam, the Indian luxury jewellery brand, will be celebrating ‘International Year of the Bird’ by joining nature-lovers around the world to celebrate the symbol of freedom and future. The year 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), one of the earliest environmental laws enacted anywhere in the world, and a pivotal bird-protection law. As part of the celebration, a two-day exhibition of fine jewellery inspired by birds, has been organised at Hotel Southern Star in city on Jan. 19 and 20.

Ganjam, taking inspiration from nature, would like to pay a tribute to those magical creatures that have inspired generations of craftsmen and poets alike. On display will be bird inspired jewellery, unsurpassed in creativity and style that come together in myriad shades and graceful lines, the result is a stunning expression of bird motifs in earrings, necklaces, brooches, bracelets and rings.

Ganjam will also be showcasing its jewellery collections that are artfully crafted in 22kt, 18kt gold set with Ganjam ‘F’ colour VVS diamonds and vibrant gem stones. All the collections will be available for sale during the two-day expo at the Durbar Hall of Southern Star, said Dushyanth Ganjam, Director of Ganjam Jewelers. The exhibition will be open for public from 11 am to 8 pm.

It may be recalled that Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar appointed Ganjam family as jewellers to His Majesty by special decree. He also provided space in the royal workshop for the Ganjam family to create jewellery, mainly in diamonds, for his domestic and international guests.

Ganda Berunda is the insignia of the Royal family of Mysore and the inspiration for Ganjam logo. The mystical Ganda Berunda is believed to bestow spiritual strength and valour on its wearer. It is a two-headed, three-eyed bird representing Lord Vishnu in the Indian epic – The Mahabharata.
