Garbage menace: Law-breakers must be caught and punished

June 11, 2025

Sir,

This refers to the letter ‘Garbage Menace: Mysuru Turning Unhealthy’ in SOM dated May 26, 2025. It is very timely and every citizen of our city must take note.

Literally, almost every footpath is strewn with all types of garbage, resulting in an unbearable foul smell. To control this menace and catch the shameless people responsible, we need sharp observers in all such areas.

CCTVs may not help. Such law-breakers must be caught instantly and given severe punishment in the form of fines. Maybe that can instil some fear in them.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) staff will surely do their work, but it is the common people who litter and the menace continues despite all efforts by the MCC or Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). Hope the authorities concerned will take note of this.
